Empowering Single Women Over 50 for a Secure Retirement

Hi My New Friends,

I'm thrilled that you found your way to Financial Peace Journey. My name is Sumi and I’m a single woman over 50 looking ahead to retirement.

Like many of you, I don’t feel completely ready for what’s ahead, but I do know there’s no one coming to rescue me. I also don’t love the idea of working till I can’t anymore. I raised two beautiful young women who are now out in the world building their own life, so now I can finally focus on me.

I have a confession. I am not ready for retirement.

I always thought I would be ready. I was one of those people who planned and planned, saved and saved. I opened my IRA at 18 years old and I used every opportunity that my employer offered. I always expected this to be the LAST problem I would have.

But not all plans work out, and here I am nearing the end of my working life without enough to live on through my 80’s.

So, I decided that I would take control of my own retirement journey so that I can maybe create the retirement that I dream of living. I know that I’m not the only one in this place and I know that it’s scary walking this journey alone.

I believe that one of the most important aspects of this journey is finding a supportive community of like-minded women who are on the same path. Difficult things are easier to accomplish with a community behind you. So, I invite you to come on this trip with me and we can navigate this path together. That’s why I’ve created this blog—to build a space where we can share our experiences, support each other, and learn together. I invite you to join the conversation, ask questions and share your stories as I share mine.

Together, we can find our way to financial peace. This blog is my way of sharing my journey with you, my village community of women, as I go through the ups and downs of getting ready for a life where full-time work is no longer a necessity.
